The Sudanese Film Group (SFG) is a registered non-profit cultural society established in April 1989.

SFG membership is composed of individuals involved in filmmaking, artistic production and development communication.

The overall objective of the SFG is to enlighten and to enhance the ability of the people to understand

their problems.


Fields of action:


- Production of films.

- Implementation of audio-visual projects in Cultural, Social and Political Issues.

- Capacity building in audio-visual skills.

- Consultation in the scope of development communication.


Cinema Culture:


- SFG organizes film shows.

- SFG organizes film forums in different locations.

- SFG maintains a collection of books in cinema art and a collection of Sudanese and international films.

- SFG is in the process of publishing the book “History of the Documentary Film in Sudan” and other translated titles.


Production:


SFG endeavors to produce films independently as well as

make films for the civil organizations, the government and

the private sector.

Cinema Culture:

- SFG organizes film shows in different locations

including periphery areas.

- hosts the activities of the Sudan Cinema Club with its

distinguished screenings.

- maintains a collection of books in cinema art and

a collection of Sudanese and international films.

- Endeavors to publish the book “History of the

Documentary Film in Sudan” and other translated titles.


Training:


- SFG has developed a training package in scenario

writing, direction, photography, editing, sound, film history,

and film appreciation.

- SFG conducted several training workshops in Al Fasher,

Juba and Khartoum.

SFG collaborated with:

Abdel Karim Mirghani Cultural Center, The British Council,

College of Communication Sciences, Darfur Studies Center,

Dar Madarik, Development Group from Cultural Perspective,

DAL Cultural Forum, EU (EIDHR), Ford Foundation,

The French Center, Garden City College, Goethe Institute,

Khartoum Center for Reading and Viewing, Sudanese Environment

Conservation Society, Sudanese Plastic Artists Union,

Sudanese Writers Union, UNESCO, UNICEF and UNMID.


Participation in Film Festivals:


SFG members participated in the juries of the following

film festivals: Golybia, Projia, Tehran and Warsaw.

Films of SFG members participated in the Film Festivals of:

Accra , Carthage, Damascus, Fribourg, Hamburg, Ismailia,

Kenya, Kampala, Leipzig, Lille, Mogadishu, Moscow, Montreal. Munich,

Oakland, Oberhausen, Ongi, Ouagadougou, Pyongyang, Tampere,

Tashkent, Tokyo, Washington and Zurich.


Funding:


SFG depends on members’ subscriptions, donations

and financed projects.
